Kris BooneKris Boone is a professor of agricultural communications and head of the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education at Kansas State University.

A native Texan, Boone was valedictorian of Knox City High School before graduating with honors from Texas Tech University in 1989.  She studied at The Ohio State University for her master’s and doctorate, graduating in 1991 and 1994, respectively.

Boone joined the faculty at Kansas State University in 1996 with teaching and research appointments.  During the time, she published one of the few texts in the field, Agricultural Communications Changes and Challenges (2000), with fellow ACE members Terry Meisenbach and Mark Tucker.  She also published numerous research studies, and was named department head in 2003.

Her ACE awards include Awards of Excellence for Research (2004), Academic Programs (2000) and Outstanding Research Paper (2001).

In addition to ACE, Boone is a member of the National Communications Association and National Gamma Sigma Delta.  She participated in the ACOP/ESCOP Leadership Program in 2001-2002, Harvard Management Development Program in 2009, and the Food Systems Leadership Initiative in 2012-2014.
