Ruth Borger, assistant vice president at the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, has demonstrated strong regional leadership through the Southern Region Extension Program Leaders Network, mentoring communication leaders in the region and throughout the country. She chaired the national issues management project for two years.
Over the past three years, Ruth has made multiple presentations on improving leadership and management skills at ACE conferences and repeated many of them as webinars for members unable to attend the annual conferences. Evaluations show they were some of the most valuable sessions to Leadership and Management Learning Community members. She has also been a valuable mentor.
Under her leadership, UF/IFAS won six gold awards last year in the ACE Critique and Awards program. This has been the pattern since she assumed leadership of the unit. She has served as chair of the Leadership and Management Learning Community, helping to reinvigorate it to attract new members and young professionals.
