CAS Director of Communications
Oregon State University

The College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University is seeking a Director of Communications. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment.

The Director of Communications serves as the chief communications officer for the college and reports directly to the Dean. The person in this position is a strategic thinker, responsible for ensuring that college communications are directed toward achieving the strategic goals of the college and the university.

Key position responsibilities include developing and implementing strategic communications plans and content, executive editor duties for Oregon’s Agricultural Progress magazine, legislative communication, brand management, public issues communication, management of the college’s web team, and teaching agricultural communications courses.

This position requires close collaboration with the network of other university communicators, including the Director of Extension and Experiment Station Communications (EESC) and colleagues in University Relations and Marketing. Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity is required. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Media & Communications Manager
Society for Neuroscience, Washington, DC   

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a Media & Communications Manager who will be responsible for managing media relations for the Society and implementing several member communication strategies, including message development and the management of several SfN communications vehicles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Drives diverse and growing communications strategies and tactics that inform and engage SfN membership and enhance awareness of and participation in programs.
  • Develops, writes, and edits content for member communications and media relations. Manages internal review for member- and public-facing communications.
  • Manages the press program for the annual meeting, highlighting newsworthy science for the media through press conferences, news releases, lay summaries, direct reporter pitching, and more.
  • Implements strategy for the Society's media relations efforts, including outreach around SfN advocacy and public policy issues, and advising on other priorities including scientific journals.
  • Works with other departments to execute multichannel strategy and messaging for various initiatives and events.
  • Manages writing and production of Society's annual report.
  • Writes, edits, and vets press releases, statements, opinion-editorials, talking points, and other communications, working collaboratively with internal partners.
  • Oversees freelance writer's products and services as needed.
  •  Monitors effectiveness of member communications, advocacy communications, and media strategies and messages, and reports regularly on outcomes and opportunities for enhancement.

Student Service Specialist - Purdue University Department of Youth Development and Agricultural Education

The College of Agriculture's department of Youth Development & Agricultural Education (YDAE) is seeking a student services professional to provide academic support to students within the department.  This will include academic advising and student club sponsorship.The primary target audience will be students enrolled in YDAE's agricultural communication program, but will also provide support to students in the agricultural education program as needed.



  • Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the position
  • Three years' experience in student services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  •  Ability to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and parents.
  • Basic proficiency in following software: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid US or Canadian driver's license.


  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Communication or closely related.
  • Experience in academic advising.
  • Knowledge of programs and majors at Purdue University.
  • Knowledge of academic advising.
